Summary
This study tested whether eating cookies fortified with zinc and selenium could help improve the immune system and health outcomes for people being treated for tuberculosis. Researchers gave specially baked cookies with different amounts of these minerals to 90 tuberculosis patients to see if it helped their body measurements, blood health, and ability to fight the infection. The results suggested that the mineral supplements might help the body's immune response against tuberculosis.
