First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jul 10, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking a daily 30 mg zinc supplement for one year can lower blood sugar and HbA1c levels in people with prediabetes. Two hundred Amish adults aged 18–80 with prediabetes will be randomly assigned to receive either zinc or a placebo pill. Researchers will compare changes in fasting glucose and HbA1c at 6 and 12 months.
