NCT ID NCT03809273
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether Yangxinshi pills, a traditional Chinese medicine, can improve exercise tolerance in people who recently had a heart stent (PCI). Over 600 participants received either Yangxinshi or the drug Trimetazidine for comparison. The main goal was to see if Yangxinshi helps patients do more physical activity without chest pain or other heart issues.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Yangxinshi pill (herbal) and Trimetazidine (drug)
- What this could lead to
- If Yangxinshi works as well as or better than Trimetazidine, it could offer a new option to help heart patients exercise more easily after stent placement.
- What could go wrong
- This is a completed phase 4 trial, but results are not yet published. The herbal nature of Yangxinshi means its exact active ingredients and long-term effects are less understood than standard drugs.
