Sugar alcohol nasal rinse could ease sinus troubles for cystic fibrosis patients
NCT ID NCT05531630
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether rinsing the nose with a solution containing xylitol (a sugar alcohol) can reduce sinus symptoms in adults with cystic fibrosis. Nearly all people with CF have chronic sinusitis, and current treatments often don't work well. The trial will compare xylitol rinses to standard saltwater rinses in 38 participants, using symptom questionnaires to see if xylitol provides extra relief.
