New study aims to ease wrist surgery pain and cut opioid use

NCT ID NCT06179004

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests two numbing medicines for wrist fracture surgery: standard bupivacaine and a longer-acting version (Exparel). About 100 adults will receive one of the two drugs as a nerve block before surgery. Researchers will track pain levels and recovery quality for 48 hours after surgery to see which drug provides better pain control and reduces the need for opioids.
