New hand therapy combo aims to boost wrist healing after fracture
NCT ID NCT07288060
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests two additional therapies for people recovering from a broken wrist (distal radius fracture) treated with surgery. One therapy uses gentle manual movements (Mulligan mobilisation), and the other uses mental imagery exercises (graded motor imagery) to retrain the brain. Both are added to standard physical therapy. The goal is to see if they improve joint position sense, reduce fear of movement, and enhance function. The study will include 33 adults aged 25–65 and follow them for 6 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Mulligan mobilisation and graded motor imagery therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, these therapies could improve joint awareness and reduce fear of movement after wrist fracture, leading to better recovery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 33 participants, so results may not apply widely. The treatments are add-ons to standard rehab, so any benefit may be modest.
