New wound closure method tested in High-Risk surgery patients

NCT ID NCT03861065

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at a new way to close surgical wounds in women at high risk for complications after gynecologic abdominal surgery. Instead of leaving the wound partially open to heal, the new method closes it partially right after surgery and fully closes it a few days later. The study aimed to see if this approach leads to fewer infections and better healing, but it was stopped early with only 8 participants.
