Shake it off? Whole-Body vibration may help heal wrist fractures
NCT ID NCT07723456
First seen Jul 23, 2026 · Last updated Jul 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether adding whole-body vibration to standard physical therapy improves wrist function and sensation in people recovering from a distal radius fracture treated with a cast. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either vibration plus rehab or rehab alone for eight weeks. Researchers will measure pain, range of motion, grip strength, and fine motor skills to see if vibration speeds recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Whole-body vibration therapy using a Power Plate device at 35 Hz and 2 mm amplitude, plus conventional rehabilitation
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to speed up wrist recovery after a fracture.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 66 participants. The added benefit of vibration over standard rehab alone may be modest or absent.
