Hand therapy showdown: which technique restores wrist function faster?
NCT ID NCT07081113
First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two physical therapy approaches—Cyriax mobilization and muscle energy techniques—to see which better improves hand and wrist function in people who have had surgery for a broken wrist. Seventy-six adults aged 18 to 40 with post-surgery stiffness will receive one of the two therapies three times a week for four weeks. Researchers will measure pain, grip strength, range of motion, and daily function to determine the more effective rehabilitation method.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Cyriax mobilization and muscle energy techniques
- What this could lead to
- If one therapy proves more effective, it could become a standard rehabilitation approach to speed recovery after wrist fracture surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, single-center trial with 76 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Both therapies are manual techniques, and individual responses can vary.
