Drug combo tested to tackle severe obesity and diabetes
NCT ID NCT03968224
Summary
This study tested if adding the drug dapagliflozin to the common diabetes medication metformin helps people with severe obesity and either prediabetes or type 2 diabetes lose more weight. It involved 160 participants who were randomly assigned to take either metformin alone or the two-drug combination for a year. The main goal was to see if the combination led to at least 10% greater weight loss compared to metformin by itself.
