Speeding stroke care: direct to angio suite could save brain tissue
NCT ID NCT04701684
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether taking stroke patients directly to a special imaging and treatment room (angio suite) speeds up care compared to the usual approach of getting a CT or MRI first. About 594 adults with severe stroke symptoms will be randomly assigned to one of the two paths. The goal is to see if the faster workflow leads to better recovery at 90 days.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Direct to Angio Suite (DTAS) workflow using Philips' CBCT imaging device
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this workflow could reduce treatment delays for stroke patients, potentially leading to better recovery and less disability.
- What could go wrong
- This is a workflow study, not a new drug or device. Results depend on hospital logistics and may not apply to all stroke centers. The trial is still recruiting, so outcomes are uncertain.
