First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This completed pilot study tested whether eating watermelon can lower blood pressure in adults with pre-hypertension. 39 healthy overweight adults ate either 1 cup, 2 cups of watermelon, or a control (Italian ice) daily for 4 weeks. Researchers measured 24-hour blood pressure and other heart health markers to see if watermelon has a dose-dependent effect.
