Virtual reality headsets tested to keep older brains sharp after surgery

NCT ID NCT06232317

Summary

This study tested whether using virtual reality (VR) for brain exercises is safe and acceptable for patients aged 60 and older after abdominal surgery. Researchers wanted to see if VR could help keep patients mentally oriented and potentially reduce the risk of post-surgery confusion, known as delirium. The trial involved 30 patients and compared the VR exercises to standard care methods.
