NCT ID NCT07443111

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether using virtual reality to teach patients about their upcoming back surgery can lower their anxiety more than the usual education methods. About 56 adults scheduled for lumbar disc surgery will be randomly assigned to either a VR lesson or standard teaching. Researchers will measure anxiety through questionnaires and a stress hormone in saliva to see if VR makes a real difference.
