Can Reflex-Based therapy help stroke patients walk again?

NCT ID NCT07307001

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will test whether Vojta therapy, a technique that uses reflex movements to activate muscles, helps people who have had an ischemic stroke regain functional independence better than standard conservative therapy. 150 participants who had a stroke within the last 3 years will be assigned to either Vojta therapy plus standard care or standard care alone. The main outcomes are improvements in trunk control and ability to perform daily activities.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Vojta therapy (a type of physical therapy using reflex movement patterns)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a more effective rehabilitation method for stroke survivors to regain independence in daily activities.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no phase designation. The therapy is not yet proven superior to standard care, and results may not apply to all stroke patients.
