First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This early-phase study tested whether a gene therapy called VM202 is safe for people with critical limb ischemia, a severe form of peripheral artery disease that causes pain and wounds. Twelve adults who had not improved with standard treatments received injections into their leg muscles. The main goal was to check for side effects over one year, and researchers also looked at whether it helped reduce pain.
