Massive 5-Year pill test: do vitamin d and fish oil stop major illness?

NCT ID NCT01169259

Summary

This large study aimed to find out if taking daily vitamin D or fish oil (omega-3) supplements could help prevent cancer, heart attacks, and strokes in healthy people. Over 25,000 older U.S. adults without prior cancer or heart disease were randomly assigned to take either the real supplements or placebo pills for about five years. Researchers tracked their health to see if the supplements made a difference in preventing these serious diseases.
