First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This large study tested whether taking daily vitamin D and omega-3 (fish oil) supplements could lower the risk of developing cancer, heart disease, or stroke in healthy older adults. Over 25,000 men and women aged 50+ took the supplements for about 5 years. The goal was to see if these common vitamins could prevent serious illnesses in people without prior disease.
