Vitamin c mystery: scientists track how water affects absorption

NCT ID NCT00001309

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This completed study looked at how vitamin C moves through the body in healthy adults. Researchers placed 23 volunteers on a low-vitamin C diet, then gave them increasing doses of vitamin C by mouth and IV. They measured vitamin C levels in blood and urine to see how water intake affects those levels. The goal was to better understand vitamin C's pharmacokinetics, not to treat any disease.
