Can virtual reality help measure fibromyalgia mobility?
NCT ID NCT07381244
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether virtual reality (VR) versions of two common mobility tests—the five times sit-to-stand test and the timed up and go test—are valid and reliable for women with fibromyalgia. Researchers will enroll 51 women aged 30-60 and compare VR-based results to standard versions. The goal is to see if VR can offer a more objective way to assess balance and function in this condition.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- virtual reality-based assessment
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a new, standardized way to assess mobility and balance in women with fibromyalgia using virtual reality.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study (51 participants) focused on measurement properties, not treatment. The VR tests may not prove more useful than standard tests.
