VR headset could spare kids from anesthesia during MRI

NCT ID NCT06132854

First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a virtual reality simulation that mimics an MRI scan can help children aged 4-18 stay calm enough to complete the real scan without anesthesia. About 288 children will either use the VR prep, read a booklet, or receive usual care before their MRI. The main goal is to see if fewer kids need sedation when they first experience the scanner in a fun, virtual way.
