Virtual reality offers Drug-Free relief for liver transplant patients
NCT ID NCT07572305
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a short virtual reality session could help reduce pain and fatigue in patients who just had a liver transplant. 84 patients were split into two groups: one got a 20-minute VR experience, the other got standard care. Researchers measured pain, fatigue, and vital signs before and after to see if VR made a difference.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help patients feel more comfortable and recover better after liver transplant surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center study with only 84 participants. The VR session was very short (20 minutes), so any benefits may be temporary or not apply to all patients.
