Could virtual reality help kids with brain disorders learn and move better?

NCT ID NCT07426315

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether immersive virtual reality (VR) therapy can improve cognitive, motor, and social skills in children aged 8 to 18 with ADHD, autism, or cerebral palsy. Participants will use the CAREN VR system, which provides interactive exercises with visual, sound, and touch feedback, while a control group receives standard therapies. The goal is to see if VR makes rehabilitation more engaging and effective.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Immersive virtual reality therapy using the CAREN system

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a more engaging and effective rehabilitation option for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, potentially improving attention, motor skills, and social interaction.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively small, early-stage study (108 participants) testing a novel approach, so results may not be conclusive or generalizable. The therapy is behavioral, not a cure, and benefits may vary widely.
