Virtual park cycling could slow muscle decline in children
NCT ID NCT07580365
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether cycling while using a virtual park app can slow the loss of motor function in children and teens with neuromuscular diseases like muscular dystrophy. Twenty-two participants will first receive standard care for 3 months, then use the virtual park bike 3 times a week for another 3 months. The goal is to see if the dual-task training improves movement, thinking, and engagement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Dual-task cycling with VirtualPark software
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a fun, engaging way to help children with neuromuscular diseases maintain their motor function longer.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early trial with only 22 participants, so results may not apply widely. The intervention is non-invasive but may not slow decline significantly.
