NCT ID NCT03937128

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether virtual reality job interview training helps prisoners find jobs and avoid returning to crime. About 100 moderate-to-high risk offenders used a VR tool to practice interviews with a virtual hiring manager. Researchers compared their employment and re-arrest rates to those who only received standard vocational services.

Active substance

Virtual Reality Job Interview Training

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could help former prisoners get jobs and reduce the chance they commit new crimes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with 101 participants. Results may not apply to all prisoners, and job training alone may not prevent reoffending.
