First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether showing children a short educational video before tonsil surgery can lower their fear, anxiety, and pain. Sixty children aged 4 to 10 will watch the video and then have their feelings and pain measured using standard scales. The goal is to find a simple, non-drug way to improve the surgical experience for kids.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Video-assisted preoperative education

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give hospitals a simple, low-cost way to help children feel calmer and have less pain before and after tonsil surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 children, so results may not apply to all kids. The video might not reduce fear or pain more than standard care.
