Simple video before discharge may boost gallbladder surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT07277036
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether showing patients a 10-15 minute video about post-surgery care (pain, diet, wound care, warning signs) before they leave the hospital helps them recover better after laparoscopic gallbladder removal. 92 adults took part, with half getting the video plus usual instructions and half getting only usual instructions. The researchers measured bowel function, nausea, and vomiting to see if the video made a difference.

- What this could lead to
- If effective, this simple video could become a standard way to help patients recover faster and with fewer problems after gallbladder surgery.
