Smart sensors could revolutionize rett syndrome monitoring

NCT ID NCT06338267

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether wearable biosensors can accurately track symptoms like heart rate, breathing, sleep, and movement in people with Rett syndrome. Up to 30 participants will use the devices at home for 9 weeks and also undergo one overnight sleep study in the clinic. The goal is to validate these tools for use in future clinical trials, not to test a treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could make it easier to measure Rett symptoms accurately in future trials, helping test new treatments more effectively.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage validation study (30 participants) focused on devices, not a treatment. The biosensors may not work reliably for all individuals with Rett syndrome.
