Cash for quitting: new app aims to help veteran smokers before surgery
NCT ID NCT06678672
Summary
This study is testing a new mobile app program designed to help Veterans quit smoking before and after major elective surgery. Smoking around surgery greatly increases risks like infections, longer hospital stays, and even death. The program uses financial rewards to motivate participants to stay smoke-free, verified by a mobile breath test. Researchers will compare this reward program to standard VA quit-smoking support in 36 Veteran participants.
