New MRI technique could pinpoint stroke cause

NCT ID NCT07448454

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a detailed MRI of the blood vessel wall can help doctors tell the difference between two common causes of stroke: hardening of the arteries (plaque buildup) and inflammation of the vessel wall (vasculitis). About 46 people who recently had a stroke will get this special MRI. The goal is to improve diagnosis so patients get the right treatment faster.
