Breathing machine study aims to prevent heart damage in critically ill patients
NCT ID NCT05922631
Summary
This study compared two different ways to set a breathing machine for patients with severe lung failure (ARDS). The goal was to see which method is better at protecting the right side of the heart from damage, a common and dangerous complication. Researchers randomly assigned 60 patients to receive one of the two ventilation strategies and closely monitored their heart function.
