Could a common pill stop Shingles' lingering agony?
NCT ID NCT07361796
Summary
This study is testing if the oral medication venlafaxine can prevent postherpetic neuralgia—the severe, long-lasting nerve pain that sometimes follows a shingles outbreak. It will enroll 832 adults who have developed a shingles rash within the last 30 days and are experiencing moderate to severe pain. The main goal is to see if starting this medication early can stop the acute shingles pain from turning into a chronic condition.
