Sepsis shock study probes hidden effects of standard drug on tiny vessels

NCT ID NCT07312071

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looked at 30 intensive care patients with septic shock to see how a high dose of the drug norepinephrine (used to raise blood pressure) affects the smallest blood vessels in the body. Researchers measured oxygen levels in muscle tissue to check microcirculation and compared it to standard blood oxygen readings. The goal was to better understand how treatment impacts survival and tissue health.
