NCT ID NCT07547826
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether putting vancomycin powder directly into the surgical wound during a brain shunt placement can prevent infections in children with hydrocephalus. About 164 children will be split into two groups: one gets the standard care, and the other gets the standard care plus the antibiotic powder. The goal is to see if the powder lowers infection rates, works for different causes of hydrocephalus, and saves money.
