Heart valve bacteria: a blood test could spot them
NCT ID NCT06407128
First seen May 31, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at 100 people having aortic valve replacement surgery. Researchers checked if bacteria found in the blood before surgery matched bacteria in the removed valve tissue. The goal was to see if a simple blood test could detect valve bacteria, which might help guide treatment and predict recovery. This is an early step to understand how bacteria may contribute to age-related valve disease.
