Brain Stimulator's hidden effect on digestion probed

NCT ID NCT06038929

Summary

This study aims to understand how a vagus nerve stimulator (VNS), a device used to treat severe depression or epilepsy, affects how the stomach works. Researchers will measure how quickly the stomach empties and how much it expands after a meal in 16 people who already have the VNS device implanted. The goal is to gather basic knowledge, not to provide a new treatment or improve the device's primary purpose.
