Nerve zaps may boost aging brains: stanford launches memory study

NCT ID NCT07214194

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive device that stimulates the vagus nerve can improve memory in healthy older adults aged 65-80. Researchers will compare memory performance with and without stimulation, and also look at how gut health and early Alzheimer's markers affect results. The goal is to understand if this safe, painless technique can support brain health as we age.
