First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether a mild electrical pulse to a nerve in the ear during heart surgery can lower the chance of confusion (delirium) and reduce anxiety and depression after the operation. About 270 adults having planned heart surgery will receive either the real stimulation or a fake (sham) version. The goal is to see if this simple, non-drug approach helps patients recover with clearer thinking and better mood.
