First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests whether a single vaginal suppository containing sildenafil (similar to Viagra) can reduce painful uterine contractions during menstruation. About 50 adults with moderate-to-severe period pain will receive the drug or a placebo in two separate menstrual cycles. The study uses MRI to measure contractions and tracks pain relief over 4 hours, focusing on safety and how the body processes the drug.
