Packing or no packing? study questions routine practice after pelvic surgery

NCT ID NCT02943525

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether placing a vaginal pack after laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (a surgery to fix pelvic organ prolapse) affects women's pain and satisfaction. About 250 women were randomly assigned to receive packing or not. The goal was to see if packing reduces complications or improves mesh healing, or if it just causes more discomfort. Results will help doctors decide if routine packing is worthwhile.
