Tiny patch tracks drug side effects on Seniors' gait
NCT ID NCT06665685
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This small pilot study tested whether a wearable device called BioButton could help detect walking problems caused by multiple medications in nursing home residents. Only 17 people took part before the study was stopped early. The goal was to see if the device was safe and easy to use, not yet to prove it improves health.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
BioButton wearable device
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help doctors adjust medications to reduce fall risk in older adults.
What could go wrong
The study was terminated early and very small (17 people), so results are limited. It only tested feasibility, not whether it actually prevents falls.
