Scientists probe hidden engine of PTSD therapy

NCT ID NCT02645929

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aims to understand why interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) helps people with PTSD. Unlike most PTSD treatments, IPT does not involve re-living traumatic memories. Instead, it focuses on improving relationships and emotional awareness. Researchers will measure changes in how people think about their own PTSD symptoms to see if that explains the therapy's benefits. The study involves 29 military veterans and their family members.
