Sound waves may calm the brain: 30 volunteers test new nerve stimulation device

NCT ID NCT07283913

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether a device called ZenBud can stimulate the vagus nerve using ultrasound instead of electricity. The vagus nerve helps control breathing, heart rate, and relaxation. Researchers will measure changes in heart activity, brain waves, and blood sugar in 30 healthy adults to see if the ultrasound method works. This is an early step to find out if the device could someday help treat conditions like anxiety or depression.
