First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at 130 men aged 50 and older with an enlarged prostate causing bothersome urinary symptoms. Researchers used a simple ultrasound to measure how far the prostate bulges into the bladder, then tracked whether that measurement could predict who would get better with standard medication over six months. The goal was to see if this ultrasound test could help doctors choose the right treatment earlier and avoid unnecessary delays or surgery.
