Hidden lumps sabotage insulin? ultrasound study aims to fix blood sugar swings

NCT ID NCT06782568

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether using ultrasound to find fatty lumps (lipohypertrophy) caused by insulin injections can help people with diabetes improve their blood sugar levels. About 50 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who use insulin and a continuous glucose monitor will get an ultrasound scan. If lumps are found, they will learn how to avoid injecting into those spots. Their glucose data will be tracked for 24 weeks to see if their time in the target range improves.
