Ultrasound may spot chemo nerve damage early

This study tested whether ultrasound can detect nerve damage caused by the chemotherapy drug oxaliplatin in people with gastrointestinal cancer. Twenty participants who had or were receiving oxaliplatin and had symptoms of nerve damage were enrolled. Researchers compared ultrasound measurements of nerve size to historical data from healthy people and other patients. The goal was to see if ultrasound could be a better way to diagnose this common side effect.
