Ultrasound reveals best breathing tactics to stop lungs from collapsing after surgery

NCT ID NCT06654778

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This completed study tested two methods to prevent lung collapse after upper abdominal surgery: using a breathing machine with extra pressure (PEEP) alone, or adding a short breath-hold maneuver (RM). Both groups also received fluids. Researchers used lung ultrasound to check for collapse in 60 adults aged 30-60. The goal was to see which approach works better.
