First seen May 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested whether ulinastatin, a drug that blocks certain enzymes, can lower the chance of severe mouth sores in people with advanced nasopharyngeal cancer receiving chemotherapy and radiation. 179 participants were randomly assigned to receive either standard care plus ulinastatin or standard care alone. The main goal was to see if fewer patients in the ulinastatin group developed painful mouth sores that interfere with eating.
