Greener scan for gut disease? study tests simpler ultrasound
NCT ID NCT07431983
Summary
This study aims to see if a simpler, portable ultrasound scan can be as useful as a colonoscopy for monitoring ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, while also having a much smaller environmental footprint. Researchers will compare the two methods in 200 patients to measure both their diagnostic value and their impact in terms of energy use, waste, and carbon emissions. The goal is to find more sustainable ways to care for people with chronic bowel conditions.
