Simple urine test may spot kidney damage in kids after heart surgery before standard methods

NCT ID NCT03263325

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a substance called UDP-glucose in urine can help doctors find kidney injury earlier in children after heart surgery. Current tests often miss early signs, delaying treatment. About 305 children under 8 years old having heart surgery will provide urine samples to see if this new marker works better.
